What you can expect to be doing:
The Senior Manager, Resourcing strategically manages resources to ensure the right talent is allocated to clients and new business at the optimal time across AP’s practices and geographies. By optimising resources, and by using data to drive informed, actionable decisions, they ensure projects deliver client value on time and within budget and that utilisation and backlog stability is maximised, driving profitability and competitive advantage. The role works across the business to anticipate needs, maintaining a deep knowledge of AP project requirements and available skills, and aligning expectations between consultant assignments and skill demand. They partner across the central teams to identify growth opportunities and skill gaps, manage surge capacity via the advisory bench and facilitate a seamless integration of talent across the business. Under the umbrella of the AP Way, they develop long term forecasting, timesheet accuracy and capacity -planning and continuously refine and uphold a simplified, automated resource process that drives quality, profitable delivery and scales in line with business growth. As a senior leader in the PMO team, they drive the governance of the company wide transformation programme.
Impact
- Develops, owns and manages the project and pipeline resourcing and capacity management process. Drives project margin, utilisation and backlog stability by ensuring optimal allocation and management of resources across the internal and advisory bench
- Drives a cross-practice resource culture with increased resource sharing across practices, regions and offices
- Creates and leverages simple and robust capacity planning, timesheeting and delivery data to report on performance and deliver informed, actionable decision making
- Builds strong relationships across teams and leadership, acting as a trusted advisor in decision making, identifying and defining staffing needs, aligning priorities, and driving commercial resource solutions
- Under the umbrella of the AP Way, proactively refines and maintains a simplified, automated resource, capacity planning and skills process that drives quality, profitable delivery and scales in line with business
- Works with practice leadership to develop project-specific skill standards to guide resource planning and project staffing requirements
- Partners across the central teams to facilitate a seamless assessment and integration of current and future talent and advisory resource across the business
- Builds a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth by providing leadership and mentorship to the PMO team.
Priorities
Generates Sustainable Growth
- Develops and implements strategic resource plans across practice projects and new business pipeline that aligns with the company's revenue growth and client quality objectives
- Leads the timesheet and capacity planning process for the business, ensuring accurate and timely completion of forecasts and timesheets. Provides accurate capacity analysis, working towards a 3 and then a 6 month lookahead, and maintains a steady pulse around key metrics for the business such as capacity availability, utilisation and backlog. Provides insights that drive actionable decisions.
- Works with practice and client leads to ensure staffing needs, utilisation potential, and shortages and surpluses are proactively identified. Actively manages the internal bench of resources and identifies possible opportunities for employees
- Partners with practice and clients leads to create proactive strategies that diversify and extend the work that each team can accommodate
- Collaborates across the central functions to actively manage the advisory bench and talent planning needs of the business and ensures that a consistent end to end process is in place
Drives High Quality Client Delivery
- Under the umbrella of the AP Way, proactively refines and maintains a simplified, automated resource, capacity planning and skills process that drives quality, profitable delivery and scales in line with business
- Works with practice leadership to develop project-specific skill standards to guide resource planning and project staffing requirements
- Embeds an ethos of high value client delivery, capacity and resource management excellence across the business, ensuring all consultants understand its importance and utilise consistent tools and approach.
