We are seeking highly skilled professionals with diverse backgrounds in business, consulting, government, or strategic communications who have a strong interest in public affairs and government relations in Indonesia. Candidates should have relevant industry experience in policy, political, and issues analysis, along with strong project management skills and the ability to engage effectively with senior business executives. Exceptional research abilities and strategic thinking are essential, as well as fluency in both spoken and written English and spoken Indonesian.
Prior experience in FMCG sector-related issues, such as import policies, trade relations, local content requirements, and manufacturing, would be highly valued. A master’s degree in business, economics, political science, international relations, communications, law, or a related field is preferred.
What you'll do:
An Associate provides a rewarding opportunity to work in the dynamic space between Asia’s governments, businesses, and civil society organizations. Our Associates play critical roles in a growing firm providing solutions to some of the world’s largest and most respected companies and organizations.
Responsibilities include:
- Structuring and proposing strategic advisory to clients around policy and regulatory challenges, including through stakeholder mapping and developing engagement strategies.
- Leading client service work, encompassing research, analysis, and presentations to ensure the highest quality deliverables. This includes overseeing the preparation, drafting, and finalization of the analytical reports.
- Providing in-country, on-the-ground support for ongoing client programs and client development activities. Building, maintaining, and managing client relationships.
- Building networks and relationships with bureaucrats and public officials, business community, civil society organizations, government institutions, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Supporting business development efforts, including the drafting of proposals and participation in pitches. Working on special projects as needed and assigned.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- 5-7 years of experience in government relations, corporate affairs, government, media, consulting, and/or strategic communications in Indonesia.
- Working experience and strong familiarity with government stakeholders, coupled with a high-level understanding of the investment and policy climate in Indonesia.
- Strong business acumen with an understanding of how businesses operate to ensure strategic counsel is aligned with client priorities and value creation.
- Proven track record of effectively leading and managing small project teams, demonstrating strong leadership skills in coordinating tasks and setting objectives.
- The ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships with mid to senior-level government and business stakeholders.
- The ability to analyze regulations and interpret complex current issues and political movements to produce concise and client-ready in briefings and reports (both in Powerpoint and Word document formats).
- Highly articulate English and Indonesian language skills, both written and oral.
- High-level interpersonal negotiation and communication skills, including experience in cross-cultural environments and international settings.
- The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- The ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines while managing multiple projects.
