We are looking for an excellent General Counsel, on a three-day per week basis, to add value to and be the “backbone” of our business. You will ensure that all company contracts are fair, and proportionate to the value, offer counsel on legal issues, and ensure the company complies with the relevant regulatory legislation in the markets it operates in. The successful candidate will be able to ensure legal compliance and limit risk exposure, working closely with the senior management and executive teams.

What you’ll do:

• Negotiate fair and mutual commercial terms in client contracts which minimize risks and maximize legal rights
• Manage the international compliance requirements of the business, including insurance
• Oversee employee training and awareness of data protection, anti-money laundering anti-bribery
• Provide expert and strategic legal advice to management
• Set internal governance policies and manage the impact of external factors
• Liaise with external parties as part of our professional services practice (regulators, external counsel, politicians, clients)
• Keep abreast of legislative changes, anticipating issues and identifying proactive solutions that will eliminate or mitigate risks

What you’ll need

• A qualified Lawyer with previous experience acting as an in-house Counsel, ideally in a Professional Services or similar environment
• Legal knowledge and experience covering a broad range of topics for example corporate law, litigations, labor law, etc)
• Experience in a multi-jurisdictional environment, specifically experienced with US law
• Ability to strategically balance between commercial incentives and legal risk
• Ability to develop legal strategy and objectives
